Four piston calipers from Wilwood and Strange Engineering, at the front and rear respectively, help that parachute slow the Mustang down. Mickey Thompson rubber is the natural choice, with 275/60/15 Pro Bracket Radials getting the power to the ground. The Mustang is sporting a mismatched set of wheels, with a pair of 15x3.5 Mickey Thompson ET Drags up front and 15x10 American Racing Track Stars out back. The suspension features pieces from Strange Engineering, Team Z, Hypercoil, and Racecraft, and with 2-inch drop spindles up front the Mustang's stance is just about perfect to our eyes. Correct the alignment on your lowered 1994-2004 Mustang with this Team Z caster camber. With that much torque coming through the drivetrain Andy wanted to keep the Fox body from twisting, so he had a 10-point chromoly cage and subframe connectors installed. Front Alignment Caster / Camber Kit for 2004-2007 Ford F-150. A Proformance Racing Power Glide, with a 5,500-rpm stall speed sends all that power back to a Ford 8.8-inch rear end with 4.10:1 gears. I personally have Bilsteins on my 79 PC and they work very well.If you look past all the shiny bits in the engine bay you'll notice that every piece of the ignition system sports an MSD badge aside from NGK 9 spark plugs and a yellow top Optima that's been relocated to the hatch area. Not a harsh ride and not terribly expensive, but not Auto parts store cheap either. ![]() Eibach also offers a set of struts and shocks that I have heard good things about, although IMHO they would work best with their lowering springs, but I could be wrong about that! After that the Bilsteins would be the next choice, but they tend to be a bit stiffer ride and more expensive. ![]() The Premiums are a reasonably priced set and work very well for most lowering springs. ![]() If you go the 87-93 spindle route I would recommend a set of Tokico Premiums or the Illumina line if your budget allows. You can install quality name brand replacement shocks/struts that will fit your stock spindles, but depending on your lowering amount they may or may not work as well as the aftermarket shocks/struts. If you upgrade to the 87-93 V8 spindles and brakes you get the brake improvement and the ability to use all the performance struts available from 87-04. The issue you have is that if your 86 still has the stock front spindles your strut/shock options are limited to stock replacements as there are no performance shocks available for the early spindle. Team Z makes quality products, but I have no experience with their offerings so you will have to check with others for their opinions.Īs for front struts DO NOT INSTALL KYB!!!!!!! KYB struts and shocks are not a quality option for the Fox Mustangs/Capris their valving is all wrong and they are just too harsh!!! Save yourself the headaches, backaches, and the frustrations and buy something else. I am a big fan of the Maximum Motorsport CC plates and use nothing else. That can add stability at higher speeds and improved road feel or feedback to the driver making the car more fun to drive. Also keep in mind that stock OEM CC plates do not allow adjustment of Caster, while aftermarket CC plates do. If the car is lowered the CC plates will often allow the front suspension the additional camber that is often lost when lowering the suspension. The CC plates allow for a more accurate front suspension alignment which improves ride, handling, and tire wear. ![]() CC plates are an excellent investment for any Fox lowered or not.
